The cool thing about Japanese anime and Japanese culture in general is the liberation of it. You would never see even so much as a hint of that kind of thing in North American cartoons, and if they localize an anime to TV, they usually make sure it's safe, or they somehow censor it (I remember in Sailor Moon, they converted one of the evil villains to a female because he was homosexual in the Japanese version) Personally, I like wearing those goggles. For example, some may watch ef -a tale of memories- just for the neatly woven (imho) relationships between the different characters... while others are in it for the exquisite backgrounds and Nanao Naru art. :D Then again, that's where the word "imho" comes into play...
