Thankful for Anime, 2008

By TheBigN

When I did this last year, I thought I was a little unique for setting it up the way I did. Turns out that this same format (and the title even), had been done for years past by one Jason Miao. Goes to show you how originality is hard to come by (orz). But it still is a good time to be thankful for yet another fun year in new anime series.

I’m thankful for more despair.

He walks alone as doom comes along for the ride.

I’m thankful for one last gondola ride exploring Neo Venezia’s wonders.

I still think its too soon for it to be over. ;_;

I’m thankful for finding the emotions you were looking for.

I still can not let it go. Oh Noe.

I’m thankful for messages always getting where they need to go.

Like any good postal worker, she has the ability to deliver in any situation. Even in the air.

I’m thankful for more banter and less bartering.

I would not mind 12 more episodes of this.

I’m thankful for taking you as you are.

Though Rahzel is one of a kind.I’m thankful for bringing healthy back.

More people need to see Real Drive.

I’m thankful for resonance.

A honed unit.

I’m thankful for vodka.

Really. I am. I’m thankful for learning that growing up is much harder than expected.

Though it does not take as long as you think.

I’m thankful for being able to end things that need it.

The cleaner.

I’m thankful for a family frenzy.

Lacks the frenzy, but it is still all good.

I’m thankful for the power of song setting things right again.

Would have been more epic if they actually did this at the end.

I’m thankful for having 37 different senses.

More awesome than words can say.

I’m thankful for quickly getting over no pants.

How can you not like this?

I’m thankful for more than just crazy shrine maidens, but they help.

Nagi does remain the focal point though.

I’m thankful for letting my darker side out, even when I don’t mean to.

Letting it all hang out.

I’m thankful for not being confused anymore, and yet still intrigued.

I wonder who wins this checkers match.

I’m thankful for evil villains that actually care about their subordinates.

Jolliest super villain that I have ever seen.

I’m thankful for WASSHOI above all else.

Keep enjoying life.

Once again, I’m thankful for everyone that’s been involved with this blog in some way, directly or indirectly. I’m thankful for those that have stopped looking at this blog, and those who’ve only just begun. I’m thankful for bloggers and commenters that think more highly of me than I think of myself, and ones that won’t give me the time of day (but I will show them. :P). I’m thankful for knowing that this blog still can be even better than it has been, and not being satisfied for what has already been done. And I’m thankful that I don’t have to do this again till next year. 😛

Now I haven’t seen that Frontier pic before…

    Great concept.

omisyth: Oh I do. At the same time, I wanted to have fun with it. You do that too sometimes, don’t you? 😀
I know what my priorities are, and what I’m really thankful for, but there are other (private) places for me to share that with. :3

jenn/coburn: I saw it, and I was like “this is awesome”, so I had to use it.

Myssa Rei: And I haven’t even covered all of the shows here. It’s been a great year. :3

Very nice post N, love it! I only vaguely recalled last years, and this year it just makes me feel like I’ve not spent enough time with series :/

Good things to be thankful for!

Wait, I’m not thankful for artists continuously distorting how people’s hands look when playing guitar. Damn, get it right.

But I’m thankful for everything else.

Crazy shrine maidens sure do help, don’t they?

ARIA’s conclusion pretty much made my whole anime year

Snooze-kun said “ARIA’s conclusion pretty much made my whole anime year.”

Heck, I’ll go farther and say that ep09 of the last series made my whole anime year. After that, it was all gravy.

Feels weird that ARIA and Hidamari Sketch are both done… now what am I going to watch when I need to slow down?

Oh, gosh. This posting is so sweet and sappy — beyond Jeff Lawson sweet and sappy to borderline Aria’s Akari sweet and sappy!

It’s really a wonderful way to look back at a year of anime, BigN. I look forward to next year’s edition.

I’m thankful for a handful of anime bloggers, and posts like this make you one of them.

Ryan A: On my side, it makes me feel like I’ve spent too much time on anime series. 😛

lelangir: I feel the same way regarding violins/violas (see MAL ef 1 post, I think), so I understand entirely. At least they’re not playing it off-time with the music. :/

ETERNAL: It makes me want a Touhou anime even more as well. 😀

Sojourner: Until I hear your ego and superego comment, I can’t agree with that statement. 😛

sNooZe-kun: I just like that there’s still something that’s been filling my fix, whether it being the Picture Dramas and the release of the manga here in the US. I’ll be sad when all of it is said and done though. :/

Wonderduck: Yeah. Episode 9 was the hit, though the last episode has the most subtle impact that will keep me thinking about all that Akari and I have been through all of these years. :3

And going towards Hidamari, there are still some more specials coming out apparently, so we’re not done yet! \o

dm: Now I worry about omo coming in and saying “embarrasing phrases are forbidden!”. And to tell you the truth, it was hard to get myself to actually start this again. But I definitely feel that it was worth it. And I hope you and everyone else got something good out of it. 🙂
