Shaft despairs

A commenter over at Jason’s place pointed this out.

Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, episode 7, about 10:02

If the above doesn’t come out as an animated gif, try here.

Text slowed down a bit:

What. outta money after moving to a new office?!
Gotta cut corners to make a profit. huh!?
Your production costs are the same but other companies are selling a lot better!
You really can’t pull this off at the same time as Ghostory, can you!
The pictures aren’t moving! You can’t even call this animation!
The anime industry’s collapsing!

Update: And, two seconds into the much-maligned episode 10 of Bakemonogatari:

I hadn’t seen this. Thanks for the heads up. Nice self-deprecation. Hats off to Shaft for playing off their own woes.

Bakemonogatari’s lack of animation for the last episode didn’t really bug me all that much. The characters and story (the stuff that really matters) have been great, so a few hiccups in the animation are nothing to me, really.

That’s hilarious. It takes a lot to notice in a series with so many stills and onscreen words, but Bakemonogatari was definitely noticeable. I hope they’re not doing too terribly awful.

It’s nice to know they listen, I suppose.

The interplay between manga and anime for SZS always seems to involve a ton of extra messages. Thankfully, we have devoted people on the internet to slow down and translate those messages for us!
